What Is Co-Washing Your Hair?
Happy Sunday my beauties!
Here is today’s review on co-washing, so let’s get started!
For those of you who don’t
know what co-washing is, co-washing is basically washing your hair with
conditioner only. That’s right, conditioner! Many shampoos are filled with
sulfates and other chemicals that are not good for the hair. The few sulfate free
shampoos I have tried left my hair feeling like straw. I was reluctant to try
co-washing, but after doing a lot of research on co-washing, I decided to wash
my hair with conditioner (I use Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner http://go.magik.ly/ml/3bcl/). I was
pleasantly surprised! My hair felt soft, clean and combed out easily. My hair
didn’t feel weighed down and oily like I had anticipated! My hair is also color
treated and my color is not fading which is great for me! I don’t have to get
my hair touched up as much which saves me money in the long run! I have been
co-washing my hair for about a while now and I am hooked! (I do use Tresemme
Moisture Rich Shampoo http://go.magik.ly/ml/3bcm/
once a month to wash out the whipped coconut oil I use to deep condition my
hair).
Here is how I co-wash my
hair: First, I saturate my hair with water and squeeze out the excess. Then I apply
the conditioner to my hair in sections then massage to clean my scalp. After I
am done “shampooing” my hair, I comb the conditioner throughout my hair, clip
my hair up and continue with my shower. Then I unclip my hair and rinse the conditioner
completely out of my hair. I towel dry and style as usual. That’s it! (I do not
use styling products that much, but if you do, you may need to use a clarifying
shampoo occasionally to remove styling product buildup).
You don’t need any special
“cleansing conditioner” to co-wash your hair and you don’t need to spend a lot
of money either. You can use pretty much any conditioner (except deep or
restructuring conditioners). I love how my hair looks and feels since I have
been co-washing. So the next time you need to wash your hair, don’t reach for
the shampoo. Use your conditioner instead!
Well, that is it for now. If you decide to co-wash your
hair, please let me know how your hair feels in the comment box below. So until
my next blog post, stay happy, healthy and beautiful!
