Ways To Spend Less On Clothes
Every season brings new fashion trends and with fall around
the corner, you are probably thinking about snagging a few key pieces to update
your current fall wardrobe, but you would probably go broke if you tried to
keep up with every single trend (no matter the season)! The good news is, you
can keep your fall wardrobe fresh by changing your mindset about shopping. Here
are a few tips I live by when it comes to keeping my wardrobe current and these
tips will save you time and money without sacrificing style:
Not All Trends Are
Must-Haves - Before you start shopping, remember that not all trends are
must-haves, and what may be a must-have for someone else may not necessarily be
a must-have for you. Do some window shopping and try a few trend pieces on,
then go back to your closet and assess what you have before actually investing
in something new and only buy trend pieces that truly make you feel good when
you try them on, and that you can envision wearing in the future.
Hold onto Your
Classics - You may be tempted to toss that extra blazer or button-down
shirt, but before you send it to the donations pile, figure out whether you can
revamp it to feel more current for the season. Classics are called classics for
a reason because they always come back in style at some point. So, unless you
don’t fit into the piece anymore or you really can’t reimagine it as a part of
your current look, hold onto it.
Figure Out Your Core
Pieces - What are the pieces you constantly wear on repeat for fall?
Chances are, they are the ones you feel truly comfortable in, and can easily be
worn with an array of trendier items. When you shop, only buy new pieces that
complement your core pieces because that guarantees you will wear them
regularly.
Build a Solid
Foundation - If you don’t have a set of core fall pieces, this should be
your starting point when you shop. Some fall core pieces I turn to are long
sleeved tunic style shirts, a great pair of jeans (maybe 2), leggings (black & brown), a versatile dress and a casual blazer that pairs
with everything. From there, I can add a few must-have trend pieces that
complement what I already have.
Invest in a Tailor - Having a good tailor will change your life! So, before you
splurge on a new outfit for fall, look at the pieces you already have and
figure out whether you can rework them with a tailor to fit your current
tastes. It’s amazing what a slightly different hem or waistline adjustment can
do.
I hope these tips helps you to get your fall wardrobe together
and ready to wear because that first leaf is changing color and getting ready
to fall from the tree and until next time, stay happy, healthy and beautiful.
