Become A Savvy T.J. Maxx Shopper With These Tips
If you are a fashionista working with a budget, you are
probably no stranger to T.J. Maxx. I have found some great pieces at T.J. Maxx
over the years, and I know I’m getting those pieces for a lot less than if I
were to shop at other retailers. However, there are a ton of tips and tricks
that can save you even more money when shopping there which I have listed
below:
Check the Clearance Rack
If you find an item that’s
been marked down, check the clearance rack before you pay to ensure that exact
same item hasn’t been marked down even further. If you find that it has been,
the salesperson will match the price of the other item to the lowest marked
price.
Shop for Pet Supplies
There is a great selection of
quality pet beds, clothes, sweaters and jackets, toys, treats, harnesses,
leashes and general pet supplies all for at least half the cost of what you
would pay at one of the major pet stores and did you know that T.J. Maxx is pet
friendly? As long as Fido is on a leash or in the cart, they are welcome in the
store.
Use the Amazon App
Download the Amazon App to scan
barcodes at T.J. Maxx. The app will tell you what the item currently retails
for so you can clearly see what kind of deal you are actually getting.
Get on The Email List
I know being on email lists
is annoying, but if you sign up to be on the T.J. Maxx email list, you will get
free shipping on your first online order.
Look for January And July Sales
If you want to get
in on the biggest sales, shop in January and July. This is generally when the
biggest markdowns are, as the store is trying to get rid of past inventory to
make room for the upcoming season’s pieces.
Purple Price Tags Decoded
If you are looking for
designer pieces, keep your eye open for the purple price tags. The purple tags
mean that the item is from the “runway collection,” which means a good brand.
Yellow Price Tags Decoded
If an item has a yellow
price tag, it means that it’s the final markdown. It won’t be getting further
discounted, so if you like it, buy it!
You Can Haggle
If you find a piece of furniture or
other home item that’s scuffed up or scratched, you can usually haggle with
employees to get 10 to 20% off.
Look For “Irregular” Items
Always hit up the sale
racks for “irregular” or as-is items. These pieces may have a small stain or
scratch on them, but they are so incredibly marked down, it’s often worth the
savings.
Shop on Wednesday Mornings
The majority of
markdowns are made on Tuesday evening or early Wednesday before the store
opens. To get first access to the best savings, shopping on Wednesday mornings
is generally your best bet.
Don’t Ignore Food Items
Many people don’t buy food
items from T.J. Maxx because they are under the misconception that they are
close to the expiration date. However, this isn’t true at all, and you can find
Williams Sonoma products for less than half their original price.
